What is a WMS-system: how to use a warehouse management program
WMS-system (Warehouse Management System) is a well-established mechanism that has flexible settings for all its rich functionality. The WMS-system accepts documents for execution, it in turn launches tasks into work on data collection terminals to warehouse employees, the WMS operator controls the execution of work in real time. In the process and upon completion of the work, the information is registered in the accounting system. As a result, information on inventory storage and warehouse operations is always reliable and up-to-date.
What a warehouse WMS program consists of
WMS programs consist of 3 components:
- User interface – allows operating the data by means of visual part of the software product when performing the tasks assigned to the operator. It can be either the system administrator or the user of the DCT.
- Database – a set of relational tables with a register of data filled with indicators in the process of working with the system;
- Processing – realization of warehouse processes, which are possible due to customizable algorithms; thanks to them, the connection between the second and the first components is carried out.
Who needs WMS training
A training course for working in a WMS system is necessary for those company members who work with WMS, regardless of whether these employees have experience with automated warehouse management systems, where it is implemented or not. By type, we can distinguish 3 main types of users – the administrator, the Navy operator and the DCT operator.

WMS administrator training objectives
A WMS administrator is a person responsible for the support, decision making and development of an already implemented warehouse management system. His high level of knowledge and skills is extremely important, because the list of his responsibilities is quite broad; as well as the level of responsibility. In addition to purely technical aspects (maintaining the working state of the system, interaction with the technical support service, customization of the system, etc.), the administrator must also deal with training of employees within the company.
